Baby's Great!

I had an ob/gyn appointment and ultrasound this morning. The good news continues! Our baby boy is looking great, all systems functioning very well. He weighs about 4 pounds, 15 ounces. And he has hair! It was hard to tell how much -- but he has more than his Mom!
My health is on track for being 35 weeks pregnant. A bit of indigestion, fatigue, and feeling very large, but great for a cancer patient. I told my doctor that we're trying to be positive about everything and he told me to drop the word 'trying' and say, "I know everything will be alright!"
Delivery is three weeks away!

Happy Anniversary!

Yesterday was Craig and my 14 year anniversary! We'll be celebrating tomorrow night by going out to dinner and seeing "The Spelling Bee" at the Orpheum Theatre.

Emotionally, it was a rough morning. I'm not quite as physically attractive as I'd like to be on a special occassion like yesterday. I woke to the reflection of a very pregnant, bald lady. Hubba, Hubba! Either feature alone might not be too bad, but together... well, not a fashion statement! I felt much better after getting all cleaned up, dressed, and putting on a cute hat.

And my sweet husband sent me flowers, "To the most beautiful girl I know." I love him.

Roseberry Cove!

We live at the end of a cul-de-sac made up of 8 houses. Usually a neighborhood has a mix of good neighbors, as well as those you might simply not associate with. Well, Roseberry Cove is a special street. All 8 families are fabulous!
On Saturday, my neighbor Regina threw me a neighborhood baby shower. She went all out with food, a gourmet cake, and lots of gifts! All eight 'women of the cove' were there (Pat, Regina, Beth, Brenda, Juelle, Jessica, Laura and myself) to celebrate and socialize. The two hour shower ended up going three hours -- we had such a good time talking. The dads of the cove took all the kids to the rollerskating rink so we could have a quite time to ourselves. Everyone was so generous. I don't think I'll be needing to make a diaper run any time this summer! When the kids got home, they all helped transport the gifts to my house, (for the small price of a slice of cake!).
Thank you all so much for the gifts and the kindness you've all shown to me and my family. We love you!! What a great place to live.

Laughter is the Best Medicine!

So I went to the mailbox this week, and there was a package for me. Inside was a nice Get Well note from my little brother Dave, along with a comfy throw blanket. I was touched that my brother and sister in law, Jen, were thinking of me, and sent a nice gift. Then I opened up the blanket....

I now have a 4 1/2 by 6 foot picture of Dave's face, in this most attractive pose,

staring at me saying, "Get Well Soon!".

I've been laughing for two days now. I love you David!

I've been feeling very good this week. Just the usual tired, and feeling very large from pregnancy. So chemo round #2 is just as good as round #1. Hopefully that tumor is just shrinking away!

Good Weekend

Friday morning my wonderful mother in law, Jane, took me to my mammogram / clip insertion appointment. I was so glad she was there to ease my mind and give me moral support! My father in law, Ron, played with Alana at home -- Thanks Ron!
Once again, I praise great medical staff!! The women working at the Methodist Breast Center in Germantown are fabulous! The first woman took me back to get my history and she hugged me and said a prayer for me right there in her office. She sent me to Mary Ann, the leading mammogram lady, who did an incredible job making that experience not too uncomfortable. I went on from there to get an ultrasound which showed that the tumor has flattened and shrunk a centimeter. The doctor came in and was very good with the procedure to inject a 'clip' or marker in the tumor to detect the location later on when breast surgery comes. Then back into the mammography room for two more pictures to show the location of the clip and I was done!
A bit sore on Friday, and out of sorts, but that was probably due to the chemo treatment the day before. Finally got some good sleep on Friday night, thanks to Criag being my human body pillow! He's great.
Went hat shopping yesterday for a church hat. The world of hats is sure interesting! Lots of frilly choices. I went with this conservative red number!
