The Amazing Race!

Jared really wanted a COOL birthday party this year. It had been a while since I'd really gone all out and planned a kids party, so I agreed.
We went with "The Amazing Race" as the theme. 7 boys split into two teams and raced all over the neighborhood completing challenges like decoding a message, finding and rescuing a stuffed bear hidden in the forest, shooting 5 three-point baskets, digging in a bucket full of sand for enough nickles to buy lemonade from Bryce's lemonade stand, and thinking of a way to get a cup out of a giant circle using rope and a hook. They had a great time, and that was only 'phase one' of the Amazing Race.

We took a break for pizza before beginning phase two. We took the boys over to town square where they had to find the woman with the flowers in her hair (Crissy), to get the change, to buy the gum, to give to the man in the zebra vest (Brian), who gave them a map, to find the 12 hidden ping pong balls, to complete the challenge and get the ice cream! It was fun watching the boys run all over the place. We gave them yellow and blue t-shirts to decorate with their team, and so we could spot them easily. They had a great time and so did we! Happy Birthday Jared!
