I was much braver going into the West Clinic this time. I drove myself, and Craig met me there from work (I only shed a few nervous tears along the way). I had my blood work done and got hooked up to my portacath in preparation for chemo. Blood work looks great -- my white cells have recovered! We saw Dr. Schwartzberz next, who had great news for us. Upon examination, my tumor has already shrunk a good deal!! He was pleased and was tempted to add the next chemo drug to the mix, but decided not to mess with success right now -- especially since I'm avoiding the bad side effects, (and in my 8th month of pregnancy!).
More good news -- I am at a stage IIA, grade III. (Not stage III as I originally thought!) I didn't know there was a difference between 'stage' and 'grade', so when he told me grade III last month, I assumed stage III. Grade III basically means that this is an aggressive little bugger, but stage IIA means we caught it before it really became out of control. Yea!
On to chemo. Craig went back to work, so I took my hour long chemo treatment solo. As I layed there for the hour, I met a really nice woman who was there with her husband. The woman had gone through breast cancer 5 year ago and is doing great, so we talked a lot about that. Her husband was there for the first time with cancer on his kidney and his chemo treatments lasted 3 hours, so he slept while we talked. The time went by quickly and I felt good. I came home tired, but it's now 5:00am and I'm wide awake!
Craig's parents arrived late afternoon yesterday and are here to help me with today's procedures and for Bryce's 12th birthday!
I'll add to this post later on about how today's stuff goes!
Thank you, April, for watching Alana for me. And thank you, thank you all so much for your continued prayers -- they're working!!
Oh, and I buzzed off all my hair on Tuesday, so I'm now bald! Very breezy!

Such great news that the tumor is already shrinking and your blood count is working out as it should ! You were in my thoughts and prayers yesterday and will continue to be today . I can't believe Bryce is turning 12!! So much going on at the Sharp house !!! No doubt it seems incredible to you as well... Jeff hasn't thought of any additional baby names yet but he is working on it !! As always, we are here if you need anything...See you soon !Love Jessica
Cheri-that's great news! I hope that things went (or are going) well today. We've been thinking of you.
Derek doesn't believe that Bryce is turning 12. I mean, he really doesn't. I've been trying to count back the years for him, but he's unconvinced. I think it just makes him feel old. :)
Happy Birthday, Bryce!!!
That's wonderful about the down grade of the tumor and the success you're having!!! Prayers really work, don't they?
Congratulations on the great news! I'm so glad your body is reacting so well to all this stress of chemo, cancer and baby.
You will probably meet alot great people on this journey who will become life long friends.
Happy Birthday to Bryce!!!
Cheri - what good news that your treatments are going so well. You are always in our thoughts and prayers! I can't believe that Bryce is a Young Man!!! It feels like yesterday that he was singing "A,B,C, D,E,F,G,H,I,J and Mhari!" We have told so many people that story...your family touched our lives 11 years ago and you continue to do so today. We love you all! Continue to take care, Mhari
