Cheri's Update

Last Wednesday I had a biopsy on a suspicious lump in my breast. Thursday morning Dr. Patterson called with the news. The lump, which is about the size of a golf ball, is cancerous. He asked Craig and I to meet him that afternoon to discuss the results.
Unfortunately, little is known right now. Dr. Patterson said most likely chemotherapy and then surgery will be involved. The hard part is taking into consideration that I'm 28 weeks pregnant.
I have an appointment to see Dr. Lee Schwartzberg of the West Clinic tomorrow. He comes highly recommended and will stage the cancer and talk about treatment.
My ob/gyn called me on Thursday evening to let me know that he and his team are ready to handle the baby when the time comes to deliver him early.
That's about all we know right now. I'm anxious to get on with things and start treatment, whatever it may be.
Thank you to all my family - both the Sharps and the Coovers - for the special fast they had for me today. And thank you to all, who's offers of help and support came pouring in today.

Ooh, I'm honored to be your first (and definitely not last) commenter. We're so happy to see you joining the blogging world--and we'll be most anxious, of course, to hear any updates about Cheri.

You've all been in our prayers and thoughts, ever since we heard the news, and you'll be staying there. Good luck tomorrow with the appointment. We'll be thinking of you. We love you, Cheri!

I know you'll hear this a thousand times, but please know that I am here to help. Tell Craig too. I'll be thinking and praying for you and your family often.

I'm glad to see that you have a blog now. Tell Craig, welcome to the world of cheesiness:) I love the picture of Elaina by the fruit snacks. That must be Costco and for our girls that pretty much is heaven.

Know I love you and consider you one of the strongest ladies that I know. You make me want to be a better person.

Cheri,
Our hearts and prayers are with you and your family. You are strong! You can do this! Yes, it will be hard, but I can see you when it is all over out there wearing pink, running a race for the cure, with a smile on your face giving support and hope to those who are going through what you have just overcome. Our family is praying for you and the baby daily. Love, your cuz-Jamie
