Dr Schwartzburg said that it was really good news that he can't feel the tumor anymore! We'll continue the final four doses of chemo to make sure we kill any last traces of cancer cells that might be left, as well as increase my chances of not getting this again in the future! I'm all for that!
Chemo went really well and really long today. My appointment was at 9:45am and I'm just now getting home at 5:15pm. They wanted to make sure I didn't have any reactions to the Taxol, so they gave me Benadryl to start. I was already tired (just because of the middle of the night feedings), so the Benadryl really knocked me out! I had a nice four hour nap today. I'm feeling light headed right now, but pretty good otherwise. The side effects for this one include bone pain over the next 4 days. (Yikes!) They also reminded me to take it easy again, because of the lower white blood cell count and increased susceptibility to infection. So no more trips to the lake for a while!
My heart looks great. They'll keep monitoring it while I'm on Herceptin. My revised schedule of treatments is: Herceptin every week for 8 weeks, and Taxol every other week for the 8 weeks. Then I'll have breast surgery.
One of the hardest parts to all this is getting the kids looked after - especially Tolan. Not that many people haven't offered - they have; I just feel so bad that I have to leave him for an entire day to get these treatments. Thank you so much for that Lisha - you've been my life saver (and Tolan's second Mom!); and thank you Jen for taking Alana and Jared today.

Well, the next little while sounds rather grueling, but you've weathered all the other storms so well, that I'm sure you're going to get through this stage with flying colors, too! I'm always so happy to hear your good news. Thanks for continuing to share. You're still in our prayers and thoughts for as long as you need to be..and maybe even longer. :) We love you! I wish I were there to play with your kids while you're out...
