What A Day!

Chemo Round #3 & Double Ear Infection!
Poor Alana has been coughing all week long. Some days she seemed very fine, others she would cough and cough. We assumed that this was a cold that was running it's course. Well today I had my third round of chemotherapy and I didn't want Alana getting other little kids sick, so I asked my good friend, Patty (who's kids are all in school), if she'd watch her for me. Patty was nice enough to watch Alana for the four hours I was gone! Alana was chipper and happy in the morning, but as the day went on, she complained of her ear hurting. Patty called Craig, who texted me, and I had Craig call for a doctors appointment. My treatment was done at 2:00, and Alana had a 2:40 appointment. I went straight from the West Clinic to Patty's to the Pediatricians. Alana said her left ear hurt, so the doctor looked in her right ear first. He said, "Well, this one's infected". He tried looking in her left ear, but couldn't see past the gobs of earwax. He had to clean out the ear (which Alana didn't like in the least), and when he could finally see in he said, "Oh, this one's really infected!" Poor Alana -- double ear infections.
My appointment went very well. My blood counts are great, and the chemo treatment went very smoothly. My oncologist did a physical exam and was surprised to find that the tumor seems to be breaking up. I asked if that was a good thing, and he said, "Yes, that's a good thing."
I'm still supposed to avoid sick people, so I asked what's a Mother of a two year old to do when she's sick! Fortunately, my white blood cell counts are normal right now, and should be until next week when they'll drop. So Alana has 7 days to get well. I think that will be plenty of time!
Next big step -- having a baby! I go in to see the ob/gyn on Monday, and again on the 12th, and then it's delivery time. My oncologist said he'll check in on me after the baby's born to see how my body's doing and when to start chemo back up again.
Just another day in the life of a Mom!

Ouch! Dave told me when he got home from basketball that she wasn't feeling well. I hope she gets better soon and I hope you continue to feel good too. Let me know if you need me this week.

Gosh! The life of a mother!? Poor baby she must have been feeling that for days, and she finally let you guys know. I had My third one with a bad ear infection and we didn't know until her ear errupted. There was blood pouring out of her ear and it was sure scarey. She is definitely fine and recovered well, but it was scarey! You are amazing and I keep you in our prayers all the time. I love checking your blog once a week and feeling that the Lord is answering our prayers. I quickly turn around and thank Him for His love and Mercy! I can't wait to see pictures of the new arrival. I am so glad all is going well. I love ya!

Oh, you poor baby! I can't imagine driving anywhere just after chemo, let alone taking a sick kid to the doctor. I'm glad you both lived through it, and hope you both feel better soon.
